Council approves $59,760 audio-visual purchase for wastewater treatment plant, to integrate with SCADA

Rick, a city official, asked the council to authorize purchase of audio/visual equipment and installation for the wastewater treatment plant from Wave Services Incorporated, Derby, Kansas, for $59,760.
Rick said the system will be similar to AV setups in other city facilities and will be able to interface with the plant's SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system so operators can view plant controls and instrumentation from multiple locations. He said the city does not need the equipment in the building until roughly seven to eight months into construction, but suppliers had indicated a price increase was planned in April on many components; because warranty begins at installation, staff recommended purchasing now to avoid the price increase without affecting warranty periods.
A motion to approve the purchase passed 6-0.
