Smith, Elliott, and Kearns (SCK) presented the district’s annual audit to the board and issued an unmodified opinion on the financial statements, the auditors reported Tuesday. Kevin Stauffer of SCK summarized results and said there were no findings in the financial statement audit and no compliance findings for the tested federal program (ESSER) in the single audit.
Stauffer told the board the general fund increased by about $9.2 million for the year after transfers, including roughly $8.0 million moved to other funds. He summarized total general fund revenues near $191 million and expenditures around $175 million; federal revenue was cited at just under $15 million, which continues to include ESSER receipts. The food service fund showed a positive change of approximately $573,000 and the medical insurance fund increased by about $2.4 million, though that fund received transfers from the general fund to subsidize claims.
The auditor said there were no reportable disagreements with management or significant internal-control issues to communicate, and no management-letter recommendations. He noted upcoming accounting standard changes were discussed with management but did not require modifications to the current opinion.
The board did not take additional action on the audit presentation at the meeting; the auditor invited board members to follow up with questions after the meeting.
