The Cleburne City Council unanimously accepted the dedication of public right-of-way from the Cleburne Independent School District required for construction of University Drive.
Staff explained the dedication stems from a July 2023 developer-participation agreement between the city and 4 Star Development LLC for construction of University Drive from Henderson to Surrey Place. The portion under construction and proposed future sections cross property owned by the Cleburne Independent School District; the ISD agreed to dedicate approximately 2.1 acres necessary for the minor arterial roadway and additional remnant parcels along the western edge that the ISD would not be able to use once the roadway is complete. In total the dedication amounts to about 4.6 acres of right-of-way and remnant property.
Staff said the ISD board voted on February 17, 2025, to dedicate the property, and council action is required to accept and record that dedication. Councilmember Cosby moved to accept the dedication; the motion was seconded, and council voted unanimously to accept RS5. Councilmembers publicly thanked the ISD for the dedication and noted it furthers the city’s partnership with the school district in completing University Drive.
