The applicant previously had a special-use permit for vehicle sales in 2017; staff said the current request conforms with the city—s future land-use plan.
A councilmember criticized the citywide Uniform Development Code (UDC) for causing unintended rezoning that affected residential parcels near business corridors; he urged the council to refer some UDC issues back to the planning and zoning board for cleanup. Other council members and staff said the present application fits the neighborhood and recommended approval. The council approved the first reading by motion with a second and voice vote.
The ordinance will return for a second reading and final adoption at a later meeting unless council decides otherwise.
