Euless council honors employee, recognizes retirees and proclaims April observances

At its meeting the Euless City Council presented an employee-of-the-month award, read a retirement proclamation honoring a longtime police officer and issued two proclamations recognizing April observances.
Mayor Linda Martin and department leaders recognized Avery Michalski as April 2025 Employee of the Month. Michalski, introduced herself at the podium and identified her family in the audience. According to remarks by city staff, Michalski completed the fire academy at Tyler Junior College, the police academy at Tarrant County College, and holds certifications including firefighter, EMT-Basic, fire inspector, arson investigator and youth fire-setter specialist. Staff said Michalski joined the city in February (as a fire inspector I) and was promoted to Fire Inspector II in November 2023; she graduated the police academy in October 2024 and served as squad leader for her class.
The council also read a proclamation honoring Todd Bella on his retirement after 34 years of service to the city of Euless; the proclamation notes his career progression and specialized law enforcement certifications. The proclamation was read into the record and presented on video because Bella was not present.
Council member Bynum read a proclamation designating April 2025 as Child Abuse Prevention Month and invited Julie Evans, chief executive officer of Alliance for Children, to speak. Evans noted that in Tarrant County there were 4,719 children confirmed as victims of child abuse or neglect in 2024 and that Alliance for Children provided trauma-informed services to 3,025 children last year; she said the organization has served more than 69,000 children since 1992. Evans encouraged community education and distributed printed and online resources for families and groups.
Council member Tim Stinniford read a proclamation declaring April 2025 as National Library Week. Library director Sherry Knight and members of the library board and foundation — including John Lentini, Catherine Flannery, Angela Jones, Kelsey Chevalier, Wanda Peach and former board president Barney Snitz — accepted the proclamation and thanked the council for support of library services.
These items were ceremonial; no council votes or policy changes were associated with the proclamations and recognitions.
