Commission backs Treasure Games cleanup-and-concert event, appoints Jordan Hewitt to committee

Daggett County commissioners on March 20 endorsed a proposed Treasure Games event combining a post-summer shoreline cleanup, multi-day treasure hunts and a free concert, and voted to appoint county staffer Jordan Hewitt to serve on the event committee.
Wesley Weber, representing Treasure Games, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, told the commission the group has secured Forest Service permission for a cleanup and is seeking a county representative to serve on a planning committee. Weber said the event would include hidden silver-coin tokens redeemable for prizes, a free concert, local-business promotional packages, and outreach tied to suicide-prevention awareness. He estimated a potential concert attendance of 5,000 to 10,000 people and described prior Treasure Games events that drew large out-of-area attendance.
Commissioners discussed potential locations on the Utah side of Flaming Gorge, including county-owned property near Dutch John, Antelope Flat and the traditional Lucerne/State Line Cove areas, and raised logistics such as parking, shuttles, generators and waste management. Commissioners and staff said they do not intend the county to fund the event directly; Weber said he expected private sponsorships and in-kind support from local businesses and partner organizations.
A motion to appoint Jordan Hewitt to represent Daggett County on the Treasure Games planning group passed on a voice vote; commissioners also encouraged county staff (including tourism and economic-development staff) to participate in planning and logistics. The commission did not adopt any financial commitments at the meeting.
