The Rhinebeck Town Board unanimously approved a five-month extension to the town’s Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) supply contract, locking participating residents’ supply rate at 11.2¢ per kilowatt-hour.
Board members described the contract as 100% renewable energy supply, with 50% of the electricity generated in New York. A town official noted that Central Hudson’s supply rates had recently risen to about 16–16.7¢ per kilowatt-hour as of March 19, and characterized the 11.2¢ rate as favorable compared with current utility rates.
The contract extension will keep participating customers enrolled at the 11.2¢ rate for the next five months while the town reviews options and prepares for the next procurement. “If you're in Community Choice Aggregate, your rate will be locked in at 11.2¢ for the next 5 months until we, look at what our next contract could be,” a town board member said during the discussion.
No further changes to the program were adopted at the meeting; the extension was approved by unanimous vote.
