Commissioners received a series of operational updates at the March 20 Daggett County meeting covering emergency response, airport infrastructure, clinic building review and code enforcement.
Search-and-rescue staff said the county obtained lighter titanium rescue motors (about 14 pounds versus the prior 45-pound units) with help from a local TRT board grant. Staff described the change as a significant reduction in carry weight for mountain and river rescues.
At the county'owned airport in Manila, officials reported a need for repairs and planned orders for bulbs. Staff said they are preparing the airport for a preliminary instrument-landing-approach (ILA) check that will include a flyover to verify lights before the ILA begins.
Building and clinic project staff said plans remain in review with the building official; staff reiterated previously announced dates for a public Q&A in mid-April and bid openings on April 22. They also said they are exploring the cost to relocate trees on the clinic site before construction begins.
On code enforcement, county staff said deputies had taken new photographs documenting violations and that letters giving property owners 30 days to bring properties into compliance would go out this week to five individuals. Commissioners said the county wanted to address issues before the Memorial Day period.
No formal policy decisions were made during the updates; commissioners directed staff to continue coordination and follow up.
