The Indian Trail Town Council unanimously approved a pair of motions to increase a previously awarded ARPA-enabled allocation and to amend the ARPA grant project ordinance so Union West Rotary can provide shoes to every student at Sardis Elementary School.
Adam (town staff) told the council that the Rotary’s initial quote underestimated the number of students; the organization requested an additional $810 to complete the project. He said the funds are available in ARPA interest earnings and ARPA-enabled fund balances.
Council member (mover) made a motion to approve a budget amendment allocating $810 in ARPA interest dollars to Union West Rotary. The motion passed unanimously. Council then voted unanimously to approve the amended ARPA grant project ordinance, bringing the Rotary project total to $15,810 so every student at the school can receive a new pair of shoes.
Staff said they will complete the required paperwork and implement the grant distribution in coordination with the Rotary and the school.
