Residents raise concerns about Bay Ridge construction, veterans event and local campaigns during public comment

Fuller said two front yards remain dug up and called the site an eyesore.
Timothy Brown, who said he had filed to run for Position 5 and later planned to withdraw, introduced himself as a retired physician and described his community service and readiness to serve. Candidate Kirsten Garcia used public comment to announce her candidacy for Position 5 in the May 3 special election, summarizing her background as a longtime resident, library trustee, school volunteer and board member for her HOA and the Galveston Arts Center. Sebastian Lafaro spoke in defense of Scott Higginbotham, asking the public to reject allegations that Higginbotham was a "puppet" of the mayor and praising Higginbotham’s public service and volunteer history.
The concerns about Bay Ridge Drive were the most substantive operational complaint raised by residents; council members did not provide an on-the-record timeline or immediate corrective action during the public comment period. The public comment session also included several other community updates and candidate introductions.
