The Bountiful City Council voted to lease city-owned property at 135 South Main Street to Lucky Slice Pizza and approved a change to the draft lease requiring minimum operating hours. The approved modification requires the tenant to open each day by 11 a.m. and not close earlier than 8 p.m., language city staff and the developer added after council concern about evening downtown vitality.
City attorney Brad Jepsen presented the lease and confirmed the hour requirement appears on page 4 of the agreement. He told the council staff had discussed the change with Lucky Slice representatives and that the tenant had accepted the modified hours.
Council members who spoke said they supported the lease as a way to add evening activity on Main Street. Councilmember comments referenced past long council meetings and the potential benefit of a later‑hour restaurant for downtown foot traffic. No further conditions were added during the meeting.
The motion to approve the updated lease was adopted by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
The lease approval directs city staff to finalize and execute the agreement; the meeting record does not show a publicly posted lease number or rent amount in the discussion presented to the council.
