The Town of Sellersburg Town Council on March 24 approved a $480 annual contract with ATS Integrated Solutions to monitor intrusion and fire alarms at Sellersburg Elementary School, voted to pay $750 toward Lakeside Homeowners Association attorney fees related to an easement, and authorized two JTL work orders totalling $11,000 for survey work related to a proposed property swap and a volunteer fire department matter.
Charlie, a town staff member, described the ATS proposal as "for 206 North Duwabney Street, the Sellersburg Elementary School" and said the monitoring includes motion and door sensors, fire alarm monitoring and sprinkler/suppression monitoring with automatic notification to 911. "This company will be notified and then communicate with 911 that there is a problem with fire or intrusion at the site," Charlie said.
The council moved the ATS item to a voice vote after discussion about how the monitoring company will contact a listed on-site person first; Charlie said the system will call the person listed on the system and, if the person confirms no authorized presence, the monitoring company will contact 911.
A separate motion approved payment of $750 to cover Lakeside Homeowners Association attorney fees in exchange for the HOA granting an easement. Council members moved and seconded the item and the motion passed by voice vote.
The council also approved two hourly, not-to-exceed JTL work orders. Work order 2025-07 was approved for $6,000 for surveying related to the Salisbury Grama school property swap; work order 2025-08 was approved for $5,000 related to the volunteer fire department property matter. Town staff said both are hourly agreements capped at the stated amounts.

Why it matters: The monitoring contract establishes an ongoing security and fire-notification service for a school facility; the easement payment removes a potential hold-up on right-of-way access; the surveys support planned property exchanges and other town projects.
The council took the actions by voice vote; the minutes and the approvals were recorded on the town website, and staff noted contract and work-order dates and details would be handled in follow-up paperwork.
