Council approves change order for temporary pavement to meet sight-distance on Topher Parkway

The Toquerville City Council on March 25 approved Change Order No. 19 to install temporary pavement sections at the north end of Topher Parkway so the site meets required sight-distance standards. Council discussion cited an additional cost of roughly $129,000.

Members again discussed mobilization charges and why contractors may charge extra when equipment must return to a site after leaving for other jobs. One council member described the process: “they mobilize they mobilize they mobilize... because if you came in and you did all the paving all at once, it'd be 1 mobilization. Problem is is they've got other jobs, so they'll take that those machines out because they gotta go do those jobs and then they'll come back at a different time and do this 1. That's what they're charging you for is the bridal and bringing all those equipment and to do the work.”

A motion to accept Change Order No. 19 was moved and seconded; the council recorded multiple “Aye” votes and the motion carried.
