The Perryton Independent School District publicly recognized dozens of student achievements across athletics, livestock shows, arts and career/technical competitions.
Administrators named students who received top ratings at the Visual Arts Scholastic Event and the Wordwood Museum show, including multiple students who earned perfect scores and a Best of Show award. The board also listed state qualifiers in choir and FCCLA regional winners advancing to state.
Athletic achievements highlighted included state-level powerlifting success and a district championship for the boys soccer program. Coach Hernandez told the board that one lifter, identified as Javier in the meeting, was a state champion with a 740-pound squat that the coach described as a state record. Coach Hernandez also noted that the program is headed to national competition in Milwaukee and praised the team and coaching staff.
The superintendent and board praised the students and coaches for their accomplishments. No formal motions were associated with the recognitions; the items were presented as honors and informational reports.
