The Overton County Board of Education approved a contract to contract Cumberland Rehabilitation Services to provide occupational therapy to students, a staff presenter said at the March 11 meeting.
District staff said the previous vendor, Kids First, no longer provides occupational therapy services. John Allen with Cumberland Rehabilitation Services was recommended to the district. A motion to approve the contract was made by Ashley Carr and seconded by Ben Danner.
The roll-call style voice confirmations recorded multiple board members saying "yes" during the vote: Crystal Moore, (a speaker identified as) William, Ashley Carr, Ben Danner, Ricky Dodson, Mike Hayes, Shirley Myers, Alice Reed, Melissa Savage and Mitch Stonescipher. The chair announced "9-0 opposed. Motion passes," indicating unanimous approval of the contract.
Board members noted the change was prompted by the prior provider discontinuing the service and said Cumberland came recommended by staff.
