Assistant Commissioner Robin Johnson said the CHP is commanded by a governor-appointed commissioner and has more than 11,000 personnel, approximately 7,500 of whom are sworn peace officers. "The mission of the highway patrol is to provide the highest level of safety, service, and security to all Californians," Johnson said.
