City staff recommended hiring RINDT (R I N D T), an engineering and environmental services firm, as the city's municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) contractor. Cliff (staff) said RINDT has supported previous city projects and that the firm offers environmental services the city needs. He said the proposed contract is slightly more expensive than the existing contractor's agreement, by about $10,000, but staff considered the additional cost justified by RINDT's experience.
Council members asked whether the work had been put out for competitive proposal; staff said professional services of this type are not required to go to an RFP under the city's procurement rules. The item was listed on the consent agenda for further council action.
