Kings Park board rejects all bids for new bus garage; district to repackage and rebid

The Kings Park Central School District Board of Education on Oct. 7 accepted a district recommendation to reject all bids received Sept. 16, 2025, for a proposed new bus garage and transportation facility after the prices came in higher than budgeted.
District staff reported they had met with architects and engineers at H2M, who recommended rejecting the bids. The board voted to reject the bids in their entirety and to direct district project managers and architects to revise the scope and rebid the work with the goal of bringing the project within budget.
No new contract award was made at the meeting. Board members said the decision was driven by prudence over spending and the desire to deliver a successful project. The motion to reject the bids was approved by the board.
Actions taken: the board accepted the recommendation to reject all bids received on Sept. 16, 2025, for the capital project (new bus garage and transportation facility) and resolved to reduce and change the scope before rebidding.
