Brooklyn Park reviews three scenarios for Northwest Grove area; no decisions made

City of Brooklyn Park leaders and planning consultants on Thursday held a joint work session to review draft concepts for the Northwest Grove area, a roughly 700‑acre study area north of County Road 101 that the city is planning for mixed residential, commercial and a designated biotech district.

Paul Marcus, the city’s planning director, opened the session by saying the materials presented were an early preview and that “we don’t have to make any decisions tonight. This is just the first time of getting all this out there.” The consultant team then presented three broad land‑use packages: a traditional, walkable neighborhood with green loops; a biotech‑centered campus and innovation district; and an “urban village” blending mixed‑use, housing and research/office uses. The packet also reiterated constants (for example, a strong green‑space and stormwater approach) and variables to be refined through ongoing public outreach.
