The House passed a substituted version of SB 192, which conditions a state tax credit for commercial wind and solar systems on the inclusion of energy storage for systems of 660 kilowatts or larger.
Representative Albrecht, the sponsor, said the requirement will make large commercial wind and solar installations more effective by pairing them with storage systems that utilities can call on during system peaks, typically morning and evening hours. In the sponsor’s words, storage paired with generation will make the systems "more efficient" and eligible projects would need storage in place to qualify for the state tax incentive.
The House recorded final passage of the substitute with a roll-call tally reported on the calendar; the substitute passed with 63 yes votes and 8 no votes and will be sent to the Senate for further consideration.
