Council pauses approval of interlocal agreement with Virgin for shared code compliance officer

The Rockville Town Council on March 12 heard an update about an interlocal agreement to share a code compliance officer with the neighboring Town of Virgin and agreed to wait for Virgin's legal review before taking final action.
Town staff said the draft had been reviewed by Rockville's legal counsel and then sent to Virgin's counsel; Virgin's council was scheduled to consider the agreement later in the month. The draft includes a $26 hourly contribution from Rockville toward the code-enforcement officer, which council members asked to confirm covers salary only and not vehicle or other operating costs. Staff said vehicle and operating costs would be borne by Virgin.
Councilmembers moved and approved a continuation of the item to the April meeting so the two towns could complete legal reviews and finalize any wording changes. No interlocal agreement was approved on March 12.
