Camille Cook, who works on utility and clean‑energy policy for Public Citizen, told the committee the local battery request‑for‑proposals closed the day before the meeting and urged council members to monitor the proposals’ evaluation and implementation. “Batteries are one of the best energy resources that is available to the ERCOT grid right now,” Cook said, adding that Austin Energy could benefit from “a 100 or a 50 megawatt increase in our load zone, at least.”
