Southfield DDA and MSU FCU present technology grant to Geniuses On Board daycare

The Southfield Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Oakland County presented a matching technology grant to Geniuses On Board Child Development and Learning Center during the March 20 council meeting.
DeAndrea Murray, owner of Geniuses On Board, said the center — licensed for 100 children and operating at capacity — used the grant to adopt a childcare-focused customer-relationship-management system to automate enrollment follow-up, improve parent communication and streamline operations. "It takes that stress and pressure off of me of having to remember that I follow-up with that person that reached out to us," Murray said.
The Connected Grant was funded by Main Street Oakland County and MSU Federal Credit Union; Ian Duncanson of MSU FCU explained the matching grant effort. Molly Malone, executive director of the Southfield DDA, said the DDA aided Geniuses On Board's application and praised the business as an example of entrepreneurship and neighborhood investment.
Council members and local officials thanked Murray for operating and expanding a childcare business in Southfield; council members also noted the center's participation with Michigan Works apprenticeship programs and local school partnerships.
Murray provided contact information for the center and said it runs a waiting list; she credited local partners and city staff for assistance through the COVID-era opening and later expansion.
