Mount Shasta council approves consent agenda and forms ad hoc committee to review master fee schedule

The Mount Shasta City Council approved its consent agenda and appointed an ad hoc committee to review the city's master fee schedule during its regular meeting.

The city manager recommended approval of consent agenda items A through E, which the council moved and seconded. The items listed on the agenda and adopted by title only included: approval of minutes for the March 10, 2025 regular council meeting; approval of disbursements (accounts payable for 03/27/25 and 03/11/25) and gross payroll and taxes for the pay periods ending in March 2025; the monthly investment report; the housing element annual progress report; and the city policy for replacement housing. The motion to approve the consent agenda passed by voice vote with all council members saying “aye.”

Separately, the council approved the formation of an ad hoc committee to review proposed changes to the master fee schedule. The council formally appointed Mayor John Redmond and Council Member Glaubman to serve on the ad hoc committee; the motion was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.

Council members described the master fee schedule work as a chance to test the proposed fees and methodology, including full cost‑recovery modeling for building inspection, planning review, public works services and other fees. Staff said the ad hoc committee will review methodology and political impacts before any final rates are recommended to the full council.

Both votes were passed without recorded opposing votes during the meeting.
