Roseville Public Library unveils four limited-edition library card designs

The Roseville Public Library will offer four limited-edition library card designs starting March 25, 2025, library staff told the Library Board at its March 24 meeting.

Library programming supervisor Cambria Evans introduced the contest and Nathan Garcia, the library’s youth and teen programming librarian, presented the four winners and the contest process. "This was initiative started by my predecessor, Anna," Garcia said, describing how staff organized submissions into four design groups and opened finalists to public voting on the library website.

Staff said the contest was intended to increase community engagement and to support local artists while producing a limited-edition card the public could choose. The four winning designs will be available at the Downtown, Maidu and Martha Riley branches while supplies last. New patrons can pick one of the designs for free; existing patrons who want a limited-edition card will be charged the standard $2 replacement-card fee.

Garcia described the selection process: staff narrowed entries by artistic group, posted finalists to the library website, and allowed public voting to determine winners from each group. Library staff said there will also be a poster display of qualifying submissions and winners at the Downtown Library through National Library Week; the display dates were described by staff as running through April 12.

The board congratulated the winners at the meeting and board members were invited to pick a free limited-edition card at any branch. The announced winners were Amy Vanderboone (Group 4, "Little Books Big Dreams"), Aliyah Ruiz (Group 3, "Best Library Ever"), Corinna Katterkamp (Group 2, "Fingerprint Freight Train") and Jessica Reed (Group 1, "Roses Are Red").
