Superintendent updates board on end-of-year activities; members split over federal education changes

Another board member said she had a contrasting view, noting concerns about the potential effects on local authority and protections for students, and said the measures being discussed at the state level earlier in the year left less discretion to locally elected boards.

Later in the meeting the board approved a motion to enter executive session for discussion of confidential student information under the exception for non-elected personnel and records (the transcript referred to this as "coma"). The motion was seconded and carried 7-0; the board indicated a return to regular session at a specified time before reconvening and later adjourned.
