On March 24 the Wheat Ridge City Council approved consent purchases for salt and police vehicles, adopted a park name, supported a construction-defects bill, opposed a statewide voting bill, and set a public hearing for the Lutheran Legacy rezoning.
The Wheat Ridge City Council recorded the following actions on March 24, 2025. All votes shown reflect the council clerk's poll of the council at the meeting.
- Consent agenda (Item 1A–C) — Approved (motion carried; "all ayes"). Items included: purchase of salt materials for snow and ice control from Independent Salt Company in an amount not to exceed $135,000; purchase of three police department replacement vehicles and related equipment and installation in a total amount not to exceed $208,670; and a resolution amending the 2025 fiscal-year general fund budget to accept a $25,000 grant from the Colorado Gives Foundation for the Wheat Ridge Homeless Navigation Program.
- Council Bill 06-2025 (Item 2) — First reading approved (motion carried; "all ayes"). The ordinance approves a city-initiated zone change of the Lutheran Legacy Campus from PHD/PCD/R-2/R-1 to Mixed Use — Lutheran Legacy Campus (MU-LLC). A public hearing was set for Monday, April 14, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. (virtual and in chambers).
- Green at 30 Eighth Park name (Item 3) — Motion to approve and adopt the park name carried ("all ayes"). The Parks and Recreation Commission recommended formal adoption under the city's naming policy.
- Resolution 16-2025 (Item 4) — Adopted in support of House Bill 25-1272 (construction defects in middle-market housing). The council's legislative committee had recommended the position; the resolution passed on a council motion with no recorded opposition.
- Resolution 17-2025 (Item 5) — Adopted in opposition to Senate Bill 25-001 (titled the Colorado Voting Rights Act). The council's legislative committee recommended opposition on grounds the bill would interfere with local election administration; the resolution passed on a council motion with no recorded opposition.
Each of the above motions was polled by the clerk and recorded as "all ayes, no nays" when announced at the meeting. Several items had brief staff presentations; the Lutheran Legacy zone change was set for a future public hearing where the council will receive testimony before final action.
