City solid-waste staff announced a temporary change to yard-waste collection schedules at the Huron City Commission meeting.
Citywide grass collection will begin April 2 and will be collected on Wednesdays for the entire month of April, regardless of residents' regular trash days. Beginning in May, yard-waste collection will return to each household's regular garbage day schedule, city staff said.
Staff also reminded residents that the free yard-waste drop site on Fourth Street by the new solid-waste transfer building is open. For questions, the Solid Waste Department provided a contact number: (605) 353-8542.
The announcement was presented as a public-service update rather than an item requiring commission action. Staff framed the change as a seasonal adjustment to handle increased yard waste as weather improves; no policy changes or budget votes were recorded on the matter.
