The presenter told the board there is a projection the foundation allowance could approach $10,000, but staff cautioned that other factors (categorical funding, retirement rates, etc.) could offset that apparent increase.
Board members asked whether current tuition arrangements would be grandfathered. Staff confirmed that existing grandfathered rates for categories such as staff-member children and pre-existing tuition contracts will remain in place; the new minimum would apply to incoming students after the new rate is set. The board approved the motion by roll-call (Tammy: yes; Nick: yes; Chelsea: yes; Kevin: yes; Madeline: yes; Board member (chair): yes).
Staff said they will apply the district's prior practice on grandfathering and will present final tuition amounts consistent with the state foundation allowance once the state budget is set.
