Irene Hanson building to host public open house April 12; senior center, library and extension to participate

The event is open to all county residents, officials said.
Staff described the open house as a chance for residents to tour the building and see the services and departments now located there. Organizers said they plan giveaways, prize activities and displays from economic development and arts organizations to make the event “like a party.”
Officials noted a separate ribbon cutting has already occurred and that the open house is meant to encourage public familiarization with the building’s offerings. Meeting participants also discussed technical issues: staff said building telephone calls can be made but the wireless system remains problematic and is under further work with partners.
Speakers said they will invite the building’s namesake to the event and that the event is intended to increase community awareness of available services in the facility. No formal action or vote was recorded; the remarks were part of staff and community announcements.
