Skagit County appoints Jed Holmes to Planning Commission District 3 seat

The Skagit County Board of County Commissioners appointed Jed Holmes on Monday to fill Seat 8 representing District 3 on the Skagit County Planning Commission. The appointment was approved unanimously.
Commission records show the seat was vacant due to a resignation; commissioners said Holmes will begin service April 1 and the term will expire Aug. 31, the standard expiration date for that seat. Commissioners noted a strong applicant pool: “17 or 18 applications came in,” one commissioner said during the discussion. The board also said interviews for the District 1 vacancy are ongoing.
As chair at the time of the formal vote, Commissioner Wiesen moved to appoint Holmes, the motion was seconded, and commissioners voted by voice to approve. The chair clarified on the record that the appointment is to fill an incomplete term created by a resignation. After the vote the chair told Holmes he was “now officially seated on the Planning Commission.” The board adjourned after the appointment.
