Georgetown City Council approves multiple contracts, ordinances and funding items; nonprofit policy passes 7-1

The Georgetown City Council on March 24 approved a series of routine and project-related actions, including equipment purchases, construction pay requests and an annexation ordinance, and adopted a municipal policy governing city funding for nonprofit organizations.

The council voted to: approve a purchase order for two replacement pumps at the Kentucky 32 pump station; approve change order and monthly pay request items for Wastewater Plant projects; pass an annexation ordinance for property on Payne's Depot Road; approve unit-price contracts for asphalt, concrete and related materials; renew a certificate of deposit at Stockyard Bank; authorize early ordering of police fleet vehicles; and approve a contract amendment with NetGain Technology LLC for IT work. The council also adopted a municipal order establishing a nonprofit-funding policy; that measure passed 7-1.

Why it matters: Several of the approved items relate to ongoing water and wastewater projects and routine infrastructure maintenance that the city says are needed to maintain service and complete contracted capital projects. The nonprofit funding policy sets a citywide framework — including a stated maximum allocation — for how the mayor and staff will accept, review and recommend nonprofit requests in the annual budget process.
