Brentwood proclaims Arbor Day as tree board prepares Saturday distribution of saplings

The Brentwood Board of Commissioners proclaimed March 29, 2025, as Arbor Day and heard from the city's tree board about a Saturday event to hand out saplings and host family activities.

The proclamation was read by Mayor Mark Worman, who said, "I, Mark Worman, do join the board of commissioners to proclaim 03/29/2025 as Arbor Day in the city of Brentwood," and urged citizens to "celebrate and support the efforts to protect our trees and woodlands." The board took no separate vote on the proclamation.

Tucker said volunteers bagged roughly 2,000 saplings that will be distributed to schools and residents and that local volunteers including Ravenwood High School JROTC and other student groups assisted with preparations.

Resident Jack Fletcher, speaking during public comments, noted the city established a tree board when it applied for recognition in a national volunteer program years ago and praised the board's ongoing work. Multiple commissioners thanked the tree board and described the event as part of Brentwood's long-running tree-city activities.

The mayor said the city will re-read the proclamation at the Saturday event and encouraged resident participation.
