Several of the adopted measures were ceremonial recognitions presented by members and received brief floor remarks. HR 17 honored apprenticeship and recruitment programs that increase women’s participation in carpentry and construction trades; Assemblymember Dixon introduced the resolution and recognized apprentices and program graduates present in the gallery.
ACR 35, introduced by Assemblymember Pappen, recognized Greek Independence Day and was adopted with a large number of coauthors. ACR 50, introduced by Assemblymember Aarons and supported by multiple colleagues, designated March 24 as Special Olympics Day and highlighted services to tens of thousands of athletes in California.
The roll call on the AB 844 procedural motion was called after members noted the bill had not been read three times, which raised the higher vote threshold for suspension; the motion failed 16–45.
