Library staff told the advisory board that children’s programming remains highly popular and that library events are adapting to reach families. Gracia said story time attendance is consistently high, special events such as a St. Patrick’s Day mystery escape-room and a cookie-themed program drew strong turnout, and Lego and Pokemon events attract both children and adults.
Staff said teen programs draw smaller but enthusiastic groups — a casino night had roughly six teens but was described as successful — and that ongoing groups such as chess and craft meet regularly.
On collection and circulation, Gracia said the library removed roughly 100 DVDs from circulation for review, reported a small decrease in total circulation during winter (attributed to weather-related closures) and noted a recent assistant-director discovery that allows mass reactivation of inactive library cards, which will change next meeting’s membership statistics. She said acquisitions over the past two months are roughly evenly split across early childhood, adult and juvenile materials (about 25–30% each) with teen/tween materials at about 16%.
Board members discussed space constraints in the children’s area and the packed juvenile nonfiction and graphic-novel shelves; staff said they may withdraw and send some items to the book sale and consider relocating devices or shifting shelving after summer reading to free space.
There was no formal vote on collections or program changes; staff will bring proposed layout or withdrawal plans to a future meeting.
