Eric J. Anderson spoke during public comment and asked the council to review a lease arrangement he said allows nonprofits and a state office to occupy a city-owned building for a nominal rent. Anderson said the arrangement lacked oversight and accountability and called it "a complete and utter waste" of taxpayer dollars.
Anderson identified himself as a U.S. Army combat veteran and said he is not speaking against veterans but urging that services for veterans be provided without bias. He said the clubhouse-like arrangement he described appeared to serve a small number of people and that the city should reconsider providing maintenance and utilities at minimal rent.
Anderson asked the council to "review that lease." Council did not announce any immediate follow-up or formal action during the meeting.
