Commission schedules public hearing on proposed Blackman Road right-of-way abandonment

The Planning Commission on March 19 voted to schedule a public hearing for April 9 on a mandatory referral to abandon a portion of the Blackman Road public right of way near the intersection with Hartland Farm Court. The applicant is SEC, Inc.
Planning staff said the abandonment request seeks to remove the remaining right-of-way from the prior realignment of Blackman Road. Staff has solicited comments from utilities and city departments and will provide a summary of those comments in the staff report at the public hearing.
“...the planning department has reached out to utilities and other city departments for comments regarding the impact of abandoning this segment of Blackman Road right of way, and staff will provide the Planning Commission with a summary of those comments at the public hearing,” staff said during the meeting.
Commissioners voted to set the April 9 public hearing. The motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff will compile feedback from utility providers and other departments and include the summary in the April 9 meeting packet for the public hearing.
