Joseph Neto, representing the Chickasha Lions Club, invited the council and the public to a free "Meet the Candidates" event on Thursday, March 27 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Canadian Valley Technology Center's seminar center. Neto said each candidate will have a table to meet attendees and display materials.
Neto also announced the Lions Club had installed a permanent eyeglasses drop box at Seventh and West Choctaw Avenue in the north parking lot of Severe Funeral Homes. Neto said the donated eyeglasses will be recycled and distributed to individuals in need, and that the project honors Helen Keller's 1925 call to Lions Clubs International to serve people with vision loss.
Neto said the club is promoting the candidate event through social media and local outlets and that refreshments will be provided for guests. He asked the council and community to help spread the word.
