Staff reported the company that performed renovation work on Bloomfield donated $10,000 through the Tennessee Golf Foundation toward a roughly $30,000 synthetic tee installation. The staff presentation said the donation could cover part of the cost and that the commission could budget or seek additional funding to complete the project.
Members described the current condition at Bloomfield: tee-mat areas and surrounding turf were reported as torn up and showing heavy wear from high volumes of play. Commissioners recommended collecting photographic evidence and user comments to support funding requests and to show the extent of wear to decision-makers.
Commissioners also received an update on junior programming: spring “linksters” sessions filled quickly after signup opened March 1, middle-school matches started at Old Fort, and the commission will host district and regional high-school tournaments at Old Fort this fall. Staff suggested, and commissioners agreed to study, whether Bloomfield’s “all-day” pricing should move to a 6-hole fee given demand and staffing levels at that facility.
