TAMARAC, Fla. — City staff said a recently concluded bid in the amount of $402,000 covers demolition work at several locations, including the former Shaker Village Clubhouse, now city property, and two parcels the city acquired on State Road 441 as part of economic development efforts.
The City Manager described the contract as a fiscal matter for the district and identified the old Shaker Village Clubhouse as included in the demolition scope. Staff member Manju provided background on the two 441 properties, saying the city purchased them more than two years ago to control and direct redevelopment in that corridor and that tenants have since vacated the buildings.
Why it matters: demolishing these structures aims to clear sites for open space and to make the parcels available for future investment by developers. Staff said the demolition would return the parcels to open land to encourage redevelopment opportunities.
