Marion County Recorder previewing veterans DD214 recording program and "Indie Landmark" presentations

Marion County Recorder Faith Kimbrough said the Recorder's Office will create a program in 2026 to record veterans' DD Form 214 documents at no charge.
"Our veterans can record their military DD 2 14 release papers at the recorder's office for free. No charge at all," Kimbrough said, noting she plans to publicize the program and invite veterans onto the office's recorded program "On the Record" to explain why recording DD Form 214 matters.
Kimbrough framed the program as recognition and service: she said her family includes service members and that the office will explain both the practical and legacy reasons for recording the documents.
The Recorder's Office also described an "Indie Landmark" project that will present decorative deeds to long-standing local businesses and civic sites as a form of recognition. Chief Deputy Recorder JR Reiter cited local examples including Monument Circle, the zoo and the NCAA headquarters, and mentioned a long-standing local business (identified in the program as "Long's Donuts"), saying the project will include on-site presentations.
Reiter also said the office plans episodes of "On the Record" featuring title-company professionals and realtors to educate viewers about title searches and title insurance for prospective homeowners.
