Legislative Post Audit Committee approves minutes, accepts audits and schedules next meeting

The Legislative Post Audit Committee approved its consent calendar and scheduled the next meeting for April 9 at 2 p.m., the committee chair announced.

Committee staff member Chris Kristen reviewed the consent calendar, which included approval of minutes from the March 3 meeting, acceptance of the two performance audits presented that day (the Veterans Claims Assistance Program audit and the Kansas Department of Transportation cost‑share drag strip audit), and preliminary approval of three limited‑scope audit proposals shown in attachments B, C and D. Kristen told members that any member could object to a limited‑scope audit and request it be elevated to a full performance audit.

The three limited‑scope audit proposals on the consent calendar were: (1) recovery of state funds and prosecutions tied to the Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (requested by Senator Petty); (2) types of planned matching contributions allowed by the Department of Commerce in base 1 and base 2 grant agreements (requested by Representative Williams); and (3) why KDADS changed how it contracts for Aging and Disability Resource Center services (requested by Senator Billinger). The committee chair asked whether any member objected to the consent calendar; no objections were raised and the chair said, “We'll consider the consent calendar approved.”

The chair also confirmed the committee’s next meeting date is April 9 and members agreed to meet at 2:00 p.m. The chair noted the committee would postpone security awareness training to a time when more members could attend.
