Commissioners review 911-board plan, Grand Avenue revitalization, food pantry opening and web survey outreach

A commissioner said the local 911 board has agreed to pursue dissolving its current governing board structure and reconstituting an advisory board but that no dissolution has occurred; the commissioner emphasized a plan is needed that aligns the county, cities, Grandview and Milford before any change.
The commission heard an update on Grand Avenue revitalization work. Staff and consultants (Stantec referenced) are preparing grant regulations and a Brownfield study; a second informational public hearing was scheduled for the schools and public on the 24th to review strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and to present related data to the public.
A commissioner reported touring a new food pantry run by local volunteers and led on the tour by Brad Carlton; the pantry is progressing and was estimated to open in about five weeks. Commissioners encouraged the public to visit once open.
Staff and commissioners discussed an outreach survey: dozens of paper responses have been received and staff are compiling results into a spreadsheet. Commissioners asked that the survey be posted to the county website and Facebook and that staff continue to accept mailed responses; staff said they will coordinate online posting and social-media sharing.
Commissioners also noted ongoing work on childcare, employee task-force events, and EDC pamphlet updates; no formal actions or votes were taken on these items during the update portion of the meeting.
