Representative Sullivan asked whether the Office of Legislative Services will move with the committee next year or remain in the State House Building. "They'll be still in the State House Building," the chair said, adding that OLS would remain where it currently operates.
A staff member addressed members' concerns about quickly filing amendments if OLS were off-site. "Especially now with the online intake form, OLS is able to process those. You'll be able to do that right from the computer over there, or you can call, just like now," the staff member said, noting the primary difference would be physical distance rather than a change in processing.
A staff member also told the committee that House committee services will be on-site and that "nothing is going to change in terms of the committee amendments and the way that those are handled and processed, and handed out for deliberations." Committee members had asked whether there would be a printer or an office set up to receive amendment materials; staff indicated that arrangements for committee services and processing would remain in place.
The remarks occurred during general committee business and no formal action was taken on the location or service arrangements.
