Cumberland County approves incentive for air-dome manufacturer after public hearing

Patton said the company expected $4.1 million in new investment and 72 jobs that would pay above the county average.
Patton asked the county to consider a cash grant to support the project. He presented a request of $88,107 to be paid over five years and said the City of Fayetteville had approved roughly $63,000 in incentives.
Commissioner Patel moved to approve a local incentive grant “not to exceed $88,170” to be paid in installments over five years provided the company meets the investment and job-creation requirements; the motion was seconded and approved unanimously. The motion recorded by the board used an $88,170 figure; Patton’s presentation used $88,107.
No members of the public signed up to speak for or against the incentives at the hearing. Commissioners did not attach additional conditions in the motion as recorded.
The county’s economic development staff said the site under consideration is on Airport Drive near the airport; if the company selects the Fayetteville-Cumberland location, the grant will be paid over five years contingent on the company meeting the investment and hiring thresholds described in the motion.
The board did not adopt additional written terms as part of the motion during the meeting. County staff and the economic development corporation will manage follow-up compliance and contracting steps.
Votes at this meeting were taken by raised hands and recorded aloud by the clerk; commissioners approved the incentive by majority and no roll-call breakdown was published in the motion text beyond the unanimous affirmation.
