Collegedale commission approves rezoning, awards pump-station contract and several administrative items

The Collegedale City Commission on March 17 approved a rezoning ordinance, awarded a contract for pump-station electrical equipment and approved a series of administrative items ranging from a fireworks contract addendum to a software services agreement.

The commission unanimously adopted a second-reading ordinance to rezone a parcel described as Hamilton County tax map 140, Parcel 201, from agriculture (AG) to mixed use town center (MUTC) after no members of the public spoke during the hearing. Mayor Lloyd presided over the vote that recorded five "yes" votes.

Why it matters: The rezoning changes how the parcel may be developed inside Collegedale city limits and will affect future permitting and land-use reviews for that property.

During the meeting the commission also awarded a contract for long-lead electrical equipment for the pump-station modernization project. A staff presenter said the recommended vendor, Lawson Electric, submitted the second-low bid and was chosen after the lowest bidder was deemed nonresponsive for failing to provide bid security. The procurement award is for $139,995.
