Adams County planning staff reported at the March meeting that the department has launched an online portal to handle annual renewals for RV transfer-container permits, and that early uptake has been strong.
Staff said the county requires permits for RV transfer containers (the holding tanks used on properties where campers remain on-site more than seven days a month). The permit is an annual renewal and the fee is $25. In prior years the renewal required paper forms and signatures from the service provider who pumps the tank; staff described the prior process as time-consuming.
With a new database system implemented roughly a year ago, staff created an online portal for permit renewals. Staff said roughly 280 permit-holders had already renewed online by the time of the meeting, and the portal automates contact with service providers for verification. Staff acknowledged an initial mailing contained an incorrect link, which created a temporary problem that was resolved with a follow-up notice.
Staff said the system will make future renewals easier because the county will have email addresses on file and can send electronic renewal notices rather than paper mailings. The update will affect property owners with RV transfer containers across Adams County; staff suggested the change reduced paperwork and processing time for both permit holders and county staff.
No formal action was required; the report was informational. Planning and Zoning director noted the next committee meeting is April 2 at 4 p.m.
