Commission schedules April work session to review new comprehensive plan sections

Planning staff told the commission on March 19 that the consultant provided draft sections of the comprehensive plan — including a land-use element, a housing element and a community facilities element — and asked commissioners to review the documents and return comments.

Staff said the drafts arrived within the previous week or two and that public-works and engineering data about water and sewer capacity must be incorporated into the community facilities section; staff has circulated data requests to public works and the city engineer. Commissioners were asked to submit written comments so staff can consolidate and forward them to the consultant.

To allow more time for detailed review, commissioners agreed to hold a work session in April. The commission discussed whether the second or fourth Wednesday would work and agreed to plan on the fourth Wednesday in April at 5 p.m.; there was some confusion on the record about exact dates (participants referenced April 30 and noted it would be the fifth Wednesday). Staff said the date will be finalized and public handouts will be posted on the city's website so the public may provide comments.
