At the March 17 meeting, Councilmember Roxy Ndeboomadu reported progress toward bringing a Tesla service center to Bowie, saying the prospective site "has been... narrowed down" and that Tesla is coordinating with the city’s state legislative delegation because state regulations restrict Tesla’s operations under its direct-to-consumer model.
Ndeboomadu said she received a briefing that a site location had been narrowed and that Tesla "is working with our state delegation on legislation" required to allow the service center to proceed. Council members did not take a vote on the matter during the meeting and indicated the project remains contingent on state-level action.
The council discussion provided an informational update; no attachments, site addresses, or definitive approvals were recorded in the public portion of the meeting. Council members said only that the site search has progressed and that the outcome depends on state legislative changes.
