Organizers provided signatures from affected businesses and required department approvals, per staff.
Council members stressed written advance notice to downtown businesses, the courthouse and regular downtown users; staff noted they would supply no-parking signage for the specific closure periods and ask event organizers to engage a traffic-control company as required by the city form. Council also discussed staged parking and alternative staging areas at City Hall for load-in to limit congestion on Main Street during peak afternoon hours.
No fees or special permits beyond standard road-closure requirements were changed at the March 11 meeting. Staff will finalize closure forms and coordinate notification and enforcement details with event organizers and city departments.
